ModSpace's MedBuild Team Constructs New Clinic for River HospitalThe
5,040 square-foot modular facility meets River
Hospital's growing need for space BERWYN, PA.-August 11, 2008-MedBuild, the specialized healthcare division of Modular Space Corporation (ModSpace®), has completed construction of River Hospital Clinic in Alexandria Bay, N.Y. The 5,040-sq.-ft. modular facility provides space for six physicians with an office for each doctor, 12 exam rooms, two procedure rooms, a waiting room, and administrative area. River Hospital Clinic will be used to provide primary care, post-op, and OB-GYN services to the area's growing patient population. "For River Hospital, we designed a customized solution to provide the additional space needed to care for more patients," says Jim Gabriel, Director of Business Development for MedBuild. "With beds quickly running out at River Hospital, we didn't have a minute to spare during construction. We're delighted to have delivered the new clinic on time and on budget." Before adding the new clinic, River Hospital was short on office and exam space. As a critical access hospital, River Hospital had limited beds for reimbursement. The hospital needed a new primary care facility to free up more beds for OR and ambulatory surgery patients, and support other medical services-and it needed it quickly. River Hospital turned to MedBuild, who worked closely with the hospital to develop a building plan on an adjacent site. River Hospital reviewed MedBuild's inventory of pre-constructed medical clinic buildings, which provides a fast turnaround with a 1-doc, 2-doc, or 4-doc configuration. The hospital also explored possible layout configurations, including MedBuild's in-house designs. When River Hospital realized the design of a modular building was essentially the same as what they could get with conventional construction, only faster, it made sense to purchase the building as a permanent clinic alongside the hospital. Once River Hospital decided on a facility design and layout for the clinic, MedBuild went to work. "In less than 30 days from delivery of the building, we had a permanent, new medical clinic ready for River Hospital to begin seeing patients," says Gabriel. "With our accelerated method of construction, River Hospital met its deadline for expansion. Doctors now have the space and resources they require to practice medicine, and give the community's patients the quality medical care they need to get back in good health."
