Customers Help Raise Over $37,000 to Benefit
the American Red Cross
The
donations will support the Inaugural Tour du Rouge,
a 515-mile bike ride along the
disaster-prone Gulf Coast to benefit the local
Red Cross chapters
BERWYN,
PA.August 18, 2008Modular
Space Corporation (ModSpace®) is proud to
announce that its customers and employees have
already raised over $37,000 since June to benefit
the American Red Cross. The donations will go
to support the inaugural Tour du Rouge-a 515-mile
bike ride along the Gulf Coast in October. The
ride benefits Red Cross Chapters along the disaster-prone
Gulf Coast from Houston to New Orleans, an area
hard hit three years ago by hurricanes Katrina
and Rita.
Part
of the money was raised through ModSpace's 2008
Sizzling Summer Deals Promotion that continues
to run through the end of August. As part of the
promotion, every customer that rents a modular
office for 6 months or more can chose one of two
rewards from ModSpace: a gourmet steaks gift certificate
or a $50 donation to the Red Cross along with
acknowledgement of their support.
"Since
June, ModSpace customers have already chosen to
donate over $25,000 through the promotion," says
Charles Paquin, President and CEO of ModSpace.
"And by the end of August, we hope to have doubled
this amount. We could not be more proud of our
customers and employees for their outpouring of
support for such a worthy cause."
ModSpace
has also agreed to be the title sponsor for the
Tour du Rouge. Eight employees are participating
in the ride and have already raised $12,000 in
donations, bringing the total to over $37,000.
The
company has a strong connection to the Gulf Region,
where they currently serve over 3,500 customers
through branch locations in Houston, TX, Beaumont,
TX, Lafayette, LA and New Orleans, LA. When hurricanes
Katrina and Rita devastated the region, ModSpace
responded within days by deploying hundreds of
modular buildings for emergency needs, as well
as construction site trailers and permanent modular
building solutions during rebuilding efforts.
ModSpace continues to support the growth and rebuilding
efforts of the Gulf Region today.
"ModSpace
has become a true partner," says Davis Henderson,
Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Houston
Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. "The support
of not only their employees, but their customers
as well, is gratifying. We can't thank them enough
for their tireless efforts and generosity. This
money will help our Chapters be better prepared
to assist our communities in future disasters."
The
American Red Cross hopes to raise one million
dollars through its Tour du Rouge, Oct. 18 - 23,
to support the Gulf Coast chapters and raise awareness
of the importance of disaster preparedness. Averaging
85 miles a day, riders will be challenged, but
will also enjoy daily historic stops and nightly
entertainment. Cyclists will have the opportunity
to meet local residents and learn about the communities
they are directly benefiting by participating
in the ride. There are currently 100 riders from
across the country signed up to participate in
the Tour. The Red Cross aims to have 300 riders
total by October.
