Operating
from an outdated clinic in an old retail facility in a
small community, Wheeling Hospital was faced with the
decision to renovate or construct a new facility. Closing
the clinic was never an option as it served a mature patient
base that continued to need the services offered by the
clinic. In addition, the work had to be conducted so that
the quality of patient care was not compromised or interrupted.
MedBuild was able to design, construct and install a new state-of-the-art outpatient clinic and radiology department meeting the strict criteria of Wheeling Hospital. The new facility was erected eight feet in front of the existing building. Throughout the turnkey project, MedBuild worked to overcome substandard soil conditions and address site solutions necessary to complete the project on-time and on-budget. MedBuild managed asbestos abatement, demolition of the old building, and completed the project by installing a parking lot where the old building used to stand. To avoid further interruption to patient care, the staff moved into the new clinic over a long weekend.

The
outpatient facility contains five exam rooms, a lab, x-ray
room, processing room, physical therapy and clean and
soiled laundry areas, as well as waiting areas, restrooms,
reception, an office, and mechanical rooms.
